Kai Kurigasa is a 1st year student at Tenbi Academy and a supporting character of the Maken-Ki! series.

Kai's Maken, known as Full Metal allows him to harden parts of his body and make them as dense as steel.

Appearance

He is a tall, muscular freshman, with brown hair and a signature visor (hat). After the events of the Summer Camp arc, he no longer wears the visor.

Personality

Honorable and always fulfilling the promises he makes, many of the guys Tenbi consider him a model of "manliness".

Relationship

• Azuki Shinatsu - Kai has a large crush on her and challenged her to an official duel in the hopes of making her his girlfriend. Even though he lost, Kai's goal hasn't changed and he actively pursues a relationship with Azuki by trying to impress her.

• Yan Min - Yan Min initially only considered him a weakling, particularly as he had never won against Azuki, and so looked down on him. However, after his request for a rematch when Venus was leaving, she seems to have developed a more friendly approach towards him.

Maken/Abilities

Fullmetal - Kai's maken allows him to make his body like steel, giving him advanced endurance and strength

Casts - Kai has become one of the few people in the world capable of using casts, having learnt from Takeru's father Takeshi.
